QUEANBEYAN SPORTS CENTRE GS4 GRANDSTANDS
Client name: Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council
Project name: Regional Sports Centre
Project location: Environa drive Environa NSW 2620
Location
A growing region of NSW bordering the ACT close to Australia’s capital city Canberra, Queanbeyan is home to a diverse range of agriculture and service industries with sport a key recreation activity. Hence, increasing needs for new venues and spectator seating.
Requirement
Having provided stands, tables, and seats on previous occasions through our company BAB Aluminium the council contacted us regarding our specialist grandstands division Grandstands Australia for their spectator seating needs at the new regional sports centre.
The new ‘natural turf’ No1 Soccer Field is to host “W-League” televised matches meaning a minimum seating requirement of five hundred seats.
The new ‘all-weather synthetic’ Hockey Field adjacent required portable grandstands that could be moved between field as needed.
Solution
After several discussions to scope the exact requirements and select the perfect solutions it was decided that 2 x GS4-30m6t GSA grandstands providing a seating capacity of 720 people for the Soccer stadium was ideal. And it was agreed that 4 x GS1-6m4t grandstands providing a seating capacity of 200 people for the Hockey Arena was ideal.
In accord with due diligence requirements, Council put the project to tender. BAB/GSA were the only company able to match the brief.
The next steps required extensive consulting with Council, Shade Manufacturers, and the projects Head Contractor to finalise specifications and timeline.
Result
The Order was placed, and contracts signed in April 2023. The GS4-30m6t were delivered in two loads on our crane truck in October 2023. A Sub-contract team of tradesmen erected and installed the two GS4-30m6t grandstands in 5 days.
