Grandstands Australia

The Abbey Medieval Festival Caboolture, Queensland

The Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology, together with re-enactors, jousters, performers, food vendors and merchants, deliver one of Australia’s premier living history events.

The Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology holds many unexpected treasures, objects from around the world, dating from prehistory to the end of the 19th century. The Museum’s medieval and renaissance collection boasts over 200 works of art and artefacts.

Making Your Event an Experience

The Abbey event’s organisers required an improved spectator experience for this well attended Medieval Festival annual event and decided new grandstands were needed to seat the 1000+ visitors to the event.

There was a strong consideration to spectator comfort. The room needed for each spectator with costumes and sample bags taking up space required, made it necessary to ensure the grandstand specifications addressed this factor.

Additionally, included in the scope of the design were other considerations that would create optimum spectator comfort, access and safety.  Added to the design were wheelchair access, safety rails, and safety steps.

We designed a 4.5 metre wheelchair bay into each grandstand providing easy access and optimal comfort for spectators not able to sit in the grandstand itself being wheelchair confined.

The practical benefit of the grandstands from Grandstands Australia now greatly assists the funding model with a permanent spectator seating solution. This allows more Medieval Festival events each year and saves on ongoing hire costs.

At Grandstands Australia our goal is to assist our clients to create great experiences at their events by providing the best views, hence optimising the enjoyment at the venue.”

An outstanding result was achieved for the festival with the 2 new grandstands delivered on time and on budget.  The grandstand was flat packed at our Ingleburn manufacturing facility and transported in 2 loads by semi-trailer to Caboolture. Installation taking place on-site.

Our grandstands included  integrated wheelchair access to feel part of the crowd, structural certifications, wrap around safety rails, safety hand loops on each stair run, and sight impaired compliant anti-slip steps.
